Octopus Diet study

This study uses DNA metabarcoding of octopus stomach contents to identify consumed prey and characterize diet composition across different habitats. By comparing prey diversity and occurrence among individuals and sites, the project examines how habitat type, local prey availability, and octopus characteristics such as size and sex may influence foraging decisions. These data will help clarify habitat-specific feeding strategies and provide insight into the trophic role of octopuses within coastal benthic food webs.
